Conversational main reasons for this WFISD Parent and Student website.
Parents and students would be informed of the progressive educational trends as contrasted
to the traditional and classic learning methods.
They would also be informed of those forces struggling for supremacy and control over what is taught
and what is omitted from the classrooms, and how it is taught.
Many parents and students would choose a traditional and classic reading program over the new-age stuff
if they knew the choice is available.
Many would choose math with more foundations.
History would include more narratives from the early American history books.
Noah Webster explained why we need story history instead of the dictionary kind.
No one can truly understand the recent history unless they know the origin, ie stronger early American history is needed.
Foundations of beauty and truth inspire students. We can provide more if we so choose.
The Ten Commandments should be in the history taught in our schools. What does your Bible say about those words?
I have requested a Mega-History-Class that gives an overview of any subject touched by a conflict
between a Christian perspective and any other, such as "humanism" perspective.
It would include all things taught and give a Christian view, or even several if there were, but it would
include the views of those Christian men who founded America. It would include a Christian History of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. It would have as suggested reading The Light and the Glory, and to show a contrasting
way of thinking, it would also assign for reading The Prince, a book quoted by Dr. Carnine in the early 90's while he was superintendent of WFISD.
Suggested reading: Brave New Schools, The Prince, any American history book written before 1895
The course would cover things like:
The differences between a pure democracy and a republic.
The Lives of the Signers, Humanist Manifesto One, Two, and Three
Essays would be written upon the difference between early American text books and today's.
An essay would be assigned on Noah Webster's dictionary of the American language, its style and purpose.
Also on the New England Primer.
The History of Changes in Law and Education would also be studied.
John Dewey's Book on Democracy and Education would be used to point out a few things about our republic as declared
in the Constitution.
United States Senators use the Grandfather education report for some of their facts, so it's worth a brief look too. Just an hour or two would be an eye opening experience.
A comparison would be made between the Communist Manifesto and the Humanist Manifesto. It would be noticed
when each was written, and the connections with John Dewey.
