Learning to Love the Truth in WFISD

How does a child learn? Especially in WFISD or nearly any public school? New psychology studies (which I use here only because the school system uses them) show there are two major ways children are being taught.
1. where they learn stuff by a sort of osmosis, by multiple times doing it, sort of without thinking about it, by being exposed to it many times. This is compared to learning a phone number by dialing it many days in a row without thinking about it. The result is you can dial it, but you have to dial it to be able to recall it. They call this "habit learning" or non-thinking learning.

2. Thinking learning. Where the student applies heart and mind to the subject material and learns it purposefully.

The observation is made in those new psychological studies, the students have more use of the material they actually apply their mind to when they learn it. They can use that material in more ways, and it is more accessable to their memory than "habit learning" or osmosis learning through multiple exposures.

The common practice of watching tv while doing homework is mentioned. They explain material learned while 'multi-tasking' is not learned as well as it is when focusing on one thing (ie no tv going on). Yet the WFISD teachers have repeatedly told elementary students "it's ok to watch tv and listen to music while studying because it helps you feel better."

That is the result of psychology and teacher education in psychology.

All the above is tied to the concept that students should not be required to develop an extended concentration span. They are best taught with bite-size attention spans.

What nonsense. But, that's commonly explained on many fronts of the new-age public schools for which you pay.

It gets worse, but I have other points to make. Suffice it to say, this page was inspired upon seeing the website about the WFISD Learning Lounge where it was offering LEARNING GAMES and Math Facts Game, and the headline for the whole page was " -- The Fun Online Interactive Learning Center --- " Provided by the WFISD Curriculum Technology Department.

Or how about this for content, Math Magician? Again, anything to give an atmosphere of fun and games, and at all costs avoid anything like "serious", or the word "work" or maybe even "study". This is robbery. All those chinese children over in China are studying hard, and focusing and being diligent and they know that is their goal, diligent work of study. Hummm, I seem to remember being taught that's what Abe Lincoln did too. But not today, not enough by far.

It is so sad to hear junior high students say, "It's all supposed to be fun. If it's not fun I don't want to do it." Yet that is the fruit of how these students are conditioned from the moment you send them to public state federal school.

Is there a right way to teach a child so he will learn more, better, quicker? Yes! There is, and I cover it in other sections at www.christianparents.com
It's time-honored, time-proven ways that made America great. Instead of these new ways we're seeing while America is declining.

Have I proved these traditional ways work better? Yes. In Old High and on the East Side, and on the West side and on the South side of town as well as other places. And parents and students have been grateful. But the school system of WFISD still elects not to tell the parents they have any other choices other than "fun fun fun fun " learning is fun, let's play some math fact games. We are the PhD educated in education and therefore we know cause our university of education told us so. Well to those people I say, read your history from some other source besides the NEA approved versions. NEA is abbreviation for National Education Association or something like that.

Parents, I can't tell you all the details you may want to know. Buy one or more of the books used on amazon or buy it new and read for yourself, or call me.

The school needs fixin. As they say in East Texas, Montgomery county where the parents voted out the whole staff.

These things should make a difference in your local vote and your national vote.

As recently as President Harry S. Truman, these words were spoken to Americans by a God-fearing President.
The fundamental basis of this nation's law was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teaching we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul.
I don't think we emphasize that enough these days.     If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in the right for anybody except the state.

The state has now taken away many rights that existed sixty years ago when Truman spoke those words.

President Truman had seen the aetheists and communists beginning to reach the Supreme Court and strip away existing practices in America, the teaching of "proper fundamental moral background." That is the historical background of this quote. Parents, if you go to a church on Sunday, you need to know those people who do not want children to believe in God are being a whole lot more active about it than you are. Stand up and do what's right for your child. The "law" enforces child attendance at a state approved school for most of the week. The "law" denies teaching of Christian truth during all that time. You and your children are being fed into an atheistic machine. Can you sit still? Can you ignore this? Will you let the people who call Christianity a disease be the ones who decide how and what your child is taught? There is a battle for control in the classroom. It is past time to fight the good fight of faith. 1 Timothy 6:12 Your dollars are paying for the wrong kind of a school. Either fix the school, or send your dollars to a school where your student can hear the words of faith from America's Founding Fathers. The difference is not only a better life now, but also eternal.
