For the students and parents of WFISD or any other school district in Texas
or any other place where parents can still have an impact on what their children learn.
The Wichita Falls Independent School District ( WFISD, W.F.I.S.D. ) can offer a new elective class.
A pure and simple example of parents teaching their children what's important
can be seen in Colonial America. Parents made sure their children learned about things in their daily life.
We should apply this today. Teach the children about things in their daily life.
Parents in America around 1755 made sure their children understood the difference between
1. certain tribes of Indians (some were friendly to the parents and some were not.)
2. the poison berries and the good berries to eat
3. the French and the English uniforms
4. quicksand and whirlpools
5. hurtful plants, hurtful animals
6. efficient ways to accomplish daily tasks
For us in 2006, the things we should want our children to understand different.
What is in their everyday life? Certainly there's no quicksands around here to hurt children,
but our list would include everyday things like
1 the money we spend to get what we want
2.the food we buy to keep our energy, strength, and health
3. the mass-media that bombards constantly
4. five (5) days a week they're in public school. How about teaching them differing camps who want to teach them different things?
Let them know the political and social-gov forces competing for what they learn about our history.
The true stories of how we got where we are today, especially in those important areas that affect us all, ought to be heard by every student.
We all use money everyday. We all eat every day. All our students consume information every day.
Some of that information is helpful, some is not, and some is false.
Let us ask some questions about these daily repeating events.
1. How does the money system affect my life and the life of my grandparents and the lives of my future children and/or grandchildren?
2. What are we buying in the supermarkets to put into our body.
1. what is this genetically-DNA-modified food they are selling us?
2. how has food nutrient density changed since it was measured in 1910?
3. how have chemical additives changed since 1910 or even 1410 or before?
4. how has sugar consumption changed and are there any effects?
5. Can nutrition ever prevent or overcome need for use of ritalyn?
6. Who wants to teach me what for which reason?
- A. What used to be taught?
- B. How did things used to be taught, such as history and reading?
- C. Why has it changed?
- D. Why did some say, Never let your king (gov.) teach your child.
- E. When did the Dept of Education get into the Constitution.? Why not before?
7. When did the Supreme Court change the interpretation of the First Amendment?
It's important that we know the story behind our every day affairs.
There is a tintillating history behind our money system, enough to motivate a student to keep his eyes open and learn.
Concerning the food we buy or don't buy in supermarkets, there is a story greater than the one we all hear about on tobacco and cigarettes. These things affect our health and sometimes even mental capacity on a daily basis.

The state has instructed the school to give classes requested by parents. The content of this class can greatly benefit your child's understanding. We request this class.
Help your child understand things better. The Father of American Education said history must be taught with stories. Today's history text-books are what Noah Webster defined as annals. Annals used to be consider as a good way to summarize for review what had already been learned through narrative (story) format. This new class will teach from narratives taken from older history books and original documents.
How can one know where to move when they see a cannon ball in the air
unless they know whence it came?
History unknown is ignorance of where you are, how you got there, and which direction you're moving. Good history helps vision and desire in every subject, especially physics.

What stronger authority can there be than the man given credit for establishing the Pure Food and Drug Laws? Every one who eats ought to be shown at least a little of what this man had to say to Americans.
History of science and math - tremendous benefits from seeing land-mark discoveries.
Motivation and inspiration comes to many when the exciting discoveries are shown to them.
